Many congratulations to designer Donna Robinson, who received a highly commended mention in the Employee of the Year category in the national Newspaper Awards.
Donna, who works for National World’s group design hub team has been pioneering the use of AI-generated imagery in our daily graphics packages.
Her groundbreaking work, using Adobe Firefly and other design tools, uses AI images to illustrate a huge range of infographics which feature in the city daily titles each day, as well as our weekly papers.
Her work features a sensational blend of photo-realistic cutting-edge imagery, alongside explainer graphics which bring life to social and consumer issues, health matters, lifestyle and many more subjects.
Graphics pages in recent weeks have featured diverse topics such as the rise of dog thefts, assisted dying, romance scams and how to keep your garden free of slugs.
They make for highly visual storytelling experiences which really enhance our printed products.
You can see some examples of Donna’s work in this article – or just make sure you get a copy of one of our city dailies each weekday.
Donna, who lives in Doncaster has been with the company for 19 years and worked with the group design team since 2010.
Her manager, John Clerkin who runs the editorial design hub said: “This is a terrific achievement for Donna and great recognition for the fantastic work she has done for all our titles. AI imagery is an emerging field and Donna is showing the way for designers and newspaper professionals everywhere.”
Donna attended The Newspaper Awards ceremony on Wednesday night at London’s Bankside Hilton. Other nominees in the category included the team behind the recent rebrand of The i Newspaper.
